Response:
klonopin is a benzo that acts at the gaba receptor in the brain. Buspar acts at the 5ht21a receptor in the brain in other words buspar is like an ssri and klonopin is in the valium family . I n europe they use klonopin for psoriasis and it is effective. doc paul

Congrats on clearing, thanks for the posting. I wonder if there’s any history of BuSpar helping p in people who are not clinically depressed? J.

Hey, great! Boy, I thought I ~reveal~ stuff close to the bone… your note is extremely open and honest… I just hope no one ‘jumps on your back’ and makes you feel badly for doing so. First, congrats on the nookie… I’m not sure it’s a proven treatment for psoriasis (can actually irritate knees & elbows sometimes <chuckle>) but I’m solidly of the opinion that… well… you fill in the blank… (Remember, when it’s good it’s great, and when it’s bad — well, it’s still pretty good!) What are the "dreaded side effects" of prozac? I’ve heard horror stories of normal, mild mannered, serene people going out and committing murder — but that’s an urban legend I think. And what is BuSpar? What’s it normally prescribed for? As for Soriatane; I’ve had excellent results with it… in the past, but I’m currently struggling to achieve the same results. Soriatane does not work for me unless I take lots of vitamins with it (the vitamines alone can reduce my P by a third or half). BUT, my P always gets much worse for about three weeks when I start soriatane and then it gets better. Last year I was on soriatane, got very bad over three weeks, burned myself with UVB during the process (didn’t know at the time that soriatane makes one very sensitive to UV). With my psoriasis condition the worst it had ever been in my life I suddenly stopped the soritane and left for Ireland for a vacation. Durng the first 10 days of the trip my P was extreme. I was leaving very large amounts of skin behind in every hostel we stayed in. Then near the end of the trip the P started to get better and within two weeks of getting home it had vanished — completely. I maintained 100% clear for over 6 months by staying on the vitamines, off the booze, and taking two 25mg soriatane caps every week (that’s a *very* low dose). Anyway, I started to get a few spots about two months ago and I started back on the normal dose of Soriatane (2×25mg / day) and the P got instantly worse. So, I wonder… if one "loads" soriatane, then comes off quickly, will psoriasis suddenly get better, or was my psoriasis about to get better because of the regular dose? That’s a question I really can’t answer yet, but I’m currently experimenting (with the ok of my derm) to see which course of action will help me the most. Anyway… enjoy your clear skin and try not to get to depressed when the p comes back (as it almost ceratainly will) kob – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > At the same time I was seeng a derm at the VA i was seeing a psych doc > at the local VA clinic for depression that I have had for longer than I > have had P. i’m on 40mg of prozac a day with great success. At the same time I was seeng a derm at the VA i was seeing a psych doc at the local VA clinic for depression that I have had for longer than I have had P. i’m on 40mg of prozac a day with great success. Then I asked for meds for anxiety problems. He prescribed Klonopin with even more success. On top of that i entered a sexual relationship for the first time since before the p surfaced(9 years people!). The dreaded side effects of Prozac became a problem. So the doc prescribed 30mg of BuSpar a day. At the same time I discontnued soriatane. And I’m here to tell you that I am 99% clear! Sad to say that my relationship with my girl didn’t work out. But my outlook on life is much better. My anxiety level is low, my skin is clear and I feel that I can take on the world now.
