Depressed Medication » Depression Medication » Seeking help for wife>

Question:

Your wife should see a psychiatrist, who is a medical doctor who specializes in the treatment of mental illness. A general practitioner is seldom qualified to treat us. — For info about this service, see http://www.twwells.com/anon/ or e-mail:

Response:

Only a psyciatrist can prescribe meds not a psycologist.  Ask you regular dr. for a referral to a pdoc.  This is your best bet. fuzz

This is my first posting and am not even sure if I’m in the right group, re-manic. My wife was diagnosed with depression years ago and after two kids and several different types of medication, starting with Prozac, she seems to be getting worse.  My question is where do I go for help.  Her doctor (MD) perscribes her medication but there is never any follow-up. Would a Psycologist or a Psychiatrist be better and how would I find a good one, I have little faith in cruising the Yellow Pages for a doctor?  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Michael PS..Please post replies, my wife uses  the same e-mail address.

I would actually recommend cruising the yellow pages.  I did on monday, and got some great help (as you can see from some of my previous posts) and found a terrific psychologist to see me and help me.   >         This is my first posting and am not even sure if I’m in the right group, > re-manic.
