Depressed Medication » Antidepressants » Paxil (or any SSRI – taper off, no cold turkey! see www.drugawareness.org

Question:

I absolutely agree.  I could not go cold turkey.  I even had problems with the taper off method.  I actually had to go to the hospital from the withdrawl.  Normally, I have a great reaction to Paxil though.  No side effects except sexual, and I can manage this with some forethought. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> NEVER GO COLD TURKEY! > again see www.drugawareness.org > It’s your ass! > Btw, your physician is either ignorant or he lied to you > about stopping Paxil (or any other SSRI). > Thanks for the info on your experince!   It makes me feel better to hear > about others, im not alone!! Response:

Yes, COLD TURKEY is BAD. I once went on an emergency trip & accidentally left my Paxil at home, and it took a few days for it to be shipped to me. During those few days, I vomited constantly and I had terrible nervous convulsions –people thought I was having seizures!) And yes, even tapering off very slowly, like going from 30mg/day to 25mg, then to 20mg, etc., each for a couple weeks at a time, made me anxious, restless, a bit nauseous, and unable to sleep. But I admit that I would just hate a decreased sex drive, so I understand what you’re talking about! Good luck, JOANN, and I hope that the Paxil lets you live a healthy, happy life again. We all deserve that :) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> I absolutely agree.  I could not go cold turkey.  I even had problems with > the taper off method.  I actually had to go to the hospital from the > withdrawl.  Normally, I have a great reaction to Paxil though.  No side > effects except sexual, and I can manage this with some forethought. wrote > NEVER GO COLD TURKEY! > again see www.drugawareness.org > It’s your ass! > Btw, your physician is either ignorant or he lied to you > about stopping Paxil (or any other SSRI). > > Thanks for the info on your experince!   It makes me feel better to hear > > about others, im not alone!!
